BTS went three for three at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. At the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on September 27, the group won Song of the Year for ‘SWIM’, along with Best K-Pop for the same song and Best Group.
Those were the only categories BTS was nominated in, so it was a clean sweep.
A first for K-pop
BTS is the first K-pop group to win Song of the Year at the VMAs. Best Group is more familiar ground: it’s their fifth win in that category, after four in a row from 2019 to 2022.
What the members said
In a message shared through BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS thanked ARMY and said, “‘ARIRANG’ is an album that is like a new beginning for us, so these awards are even more meaningful.” They added that the seven members will keep making music and performing together.
